NICMA’s Childminding Development Team are responsible for supporting and developing childminding within local communities.
Clare works within the Glens, Coleraine, Ballymoney, Causeway coast, Ballymena and Antrim area part-time, 33 hours per week and is based in Cushendun. She brings a wealth of experience to NICMA.
Having been a registered childminder herself Clare went on to offer an extended childminding service and ran a pre-school playgroup for a period of three years. Clare’s post is jointly funded by the Northern Childcare Partnership and Department of Education.
Fiona joined NICMA in July 2008 and covers the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust area, working 25 hours per week. Fiona has worked in the Early Years Sector for 15 years in a range of posts including Registered Childminder, After Schools Co-ordinator, Day Nursery Room Supervisor and has also worked with Looked After Children. Childcare qualifications include National Vocational Awards at levels 2 and 3 in Early Years Care and Education and a BA Honours Degree in Education through Worcester University. Fiona’s post is funded through the Eastern Childcare Partnership.
Liz is the Childminding Development Officer covering the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust area. Liz joined NICMA in 2004 having spent 5 years working as Classroom Assistant (Special Needs) and a further year as a Nursery Assistant in the statutory sector. During this time Liz worked towards and achieved the NVQ 3 in Early Years Care & Education.
Most recently Liz has completed a Level 3 Certificate in Learning & Development Practice at Belfast Met. Liz previously worked in retail and spent several years as Training Co-ordinator for one of the major stores in Belfast. Liz works 20 hrs per week.
Maria works full-time and covers the whole Western Health and Social Care Trust area. Maria has worked within the Early Years sector for approximately 8 years as a Crèche and After School assistant and Acting Leader before becoming a Registered Childminder herself. Maria has five children of her own and has completed a Diploma in Early Years, a National Vocational Award at levels 2 and 3 in Early Years and Playwork and holds a First Line Management Certificate. Maria’s post is funded by the Western Childcare Partnership.
Michelle is based within the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) and works part-time 30 hours per week. Michelle’s Early Years career began in June 2000 when she graduated from Queens University with a BA Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Michelle previously worked as a Childcare Training Co-ordinator delivering & assessing childcare qualifications for 5 years.
During this time Michelle completed her D32/33 Assessor awards & V1 Internal Verification award. Most recently Michelle has completed a Level 3 Certificate in Learning & Development Practice at Belfast Met. Michelle’s post is jointly funded through the SHSCT and NICMA. Michelle works 7 hours per week as the Childminding Development Officer for ArKe SureStart in Armagh.
