Changes to "My Childminding Policies"

NICMA have been made aware by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) that changes need to be made to a number of Childminder policies relating to Data Protection.  These policies include:
  • Data Protection
  • Management of Records
  • Confidentiality
  • Taking and Using of Photographs and Recording of Children

All NICMA policies have been amended to meet ICO requirements.

You must decide what options apply to your childminding business.  The options are:

 

Option 1:

Keep all personal information and data relating to your Childminding business as MANUAL records ONLY.

The policies you will need are:
  • Data Protection No 25.1
  • Management of Records 28.1
  • Taking and Using Photographs and Recordings 24.1
  • Confidentiality 10.1

Option 2

Keep all personal information and data relating to your Childminding business as ELECTRONIC records ONLY.

The policies you will need are:
  • Data Protection No 25.2
  • Management of Records 28.2
  • Taking and Using Photographs and Recordings 24.2
  • Confidentiality 10.1

Option 3

Keep all personal information and data relating to your Childminding business in both MANUAL and ELECTRONIC formats.  

The policies you will need are:
  • Data Protection No 25.3
  • Management of Records 28.3
  • Taking and Using Photographs and Recordings 24.3
  • Confidentiality 10.1
Options 2 and 3 will require registration with the Information Commissioners office which costs £35 per year.
